Lugano, Switzerland

We stayed at the Continental Parkhotel, Lugano. This is a short walk from the station and overlooks Lugano. It is easy to get to the city centre on a bus, the funicular or a very steep walk which we did several times.

Continental Park Hotel, Lugano
Room 55
We were upgraded to a superior lakeview room with a balcony on arrival. It was a large room with a European double bed. Creamy yellow walls and blue patterned bedspread. There were two chairs upholstered in matching fabric around a coffee table and a desk with another chair in the corner. There was a really nice ambience to the room. I had asked if we could have a kettle and there was one provided with two cups and saucers at no charge. There was a frig but no minibar which I prefer.

The shower was a large separate walk-in shower ( no bath). No hooks for towels.

Breakfast is a delicious buffet with lots of choices. The dining room is almost a conservatory with large glass windows and colourful plants.

For a delicious and inexpensive lunch by Swiss standards, try the restaurant in the Manor department store.

Never get so busy travelling

that you forget to have an icecream on the way
