About Elizabeth

An avid traveller, Elizabeth's first overseas trip was to South East Asia with a couple of university friends..  She came back eager to travel again.  Teaching maths, marriage and having a family kept her a little closer to home - visiting parts of Australia, New Zealand, Norfolk Island and some of the Pacific islands.  However she has continued to travel with her husband Colin and four daughters in tow.  One of the highlights was the family living in England for a few months in the late 1990s.  Living in Durham in the north east of England was the perfect base.  Edinburgh to the north, York and the Yorkshire moors to the south and the Lakes district to the west were all under two hours drive from home.  Elizabeth would spend the week planning weekends away,  phoning or writing to Tourist Information Centres and then waiting for the postman to deliver all the brochures in the mail!  No internet then!!  A few days in Disneyland on the way over and Christmas at Santa's village in Rovaniemi on the Arctic Circle were two of the many highlights for the girls on that trip.

With the children now grown up, Elizabeth can often be found exploring all the nooks and crannies of the world, but especially in Europe.   Colin is her usual travel companion, but she occasionally travels with one or more of her daughters or a friend. She will take anyone with the travel bug!  

Colin has become the transport expert, booking trains and planes, boats and buses, and the occasional car  wherever they have travelled. A self-confessed tripadvisor addict, he enjoys finding good quality hotels at reasonable prices.   One of the girls is currently studying in Switzerland so she sometimes travels with Elizabeth, especially if there is snow nearby, as she loves skiing.  

Travelling is a privilege.  Expect the unexpected, go with the flow and if all else fails - have a gelato and chocolate!
