The Matterhorn would have to be the best place to finish a winter snow holiday! I think I have about a thousand photos of it and I never tire of looking at it. I find it absolutely mesmerising. Our balcony looks directly at it, the breakfast room looks directly at it, and the colours change depending on the time of day. Today is fine, blue sky and a perfect day for a trip up Klein Matterhorn, 3883m high. At Trockener Steg we are transported to the Matterhorn glacier paradise on the cable car which is the highest in Europe! The glacier below us seems enormous. The cable car slips into its cradle at the top and we disembark. The signs point to the glacier paradise, an ice cave 15m below the surface of the ice, and the outdoor viewing platform. We head to the viewing platform first. A few minutes walk and WOW! We are surrounded by 38 mountains, all higher than 4000m high! French, Swiss and Italian! Even Mont Blanc can be seen! Mountains, glaciers and snow in every direction. I could use endless superlatives. Suffice to say it is absolutely awesome! For more information, check out www.matterhornparadise.ch
