As you would expect in Europe, the way from one country to another is through a third country! That's exactly what we did! We left Zermatt in Switzerland on the 10:13am train to Chamonix in France, and then took the bus from Chamonix to Courmayeur in Italy through the Mont Blanc tunnel!! We actually could have avoided France by catching a 6am train to Martigny in Switzerland and then two buses to Italy but hey, I'm on holidays and I wanted to have a leisurely breakfast! I was quite surprised that the Swiss relinquished their train to French crew at the border but there didn't appear to be any arguments. We arrived in Courmeyeur in brilliant sunshine
