The Aosta Christmas Markets, called "Marché Vert Noël", are set in the picturesque Roman Ampitheatre in Aosta. The stalls sell a variety of local produce including cheeses, breads and biscotti, lots of craft items such as hats and beanies, slippers, mittens and scarves. Essential items for winter here! The local wine maker is doing good business and we take home a bottle with us. There are also a couple of stalls selling hot gluhwein which is very popular. Kids are playing up near the big snowman and there are quite a few tourists taking photos of the ancient theatre wall with its covering of snow.
