The crane is coming straight towards us!  Cars are reversing, motor bikes are pulling over as close to the little brick wall as they can... Luckily we are right next to a lay-by and quick as a flash, we take it. The crane eases past us, just!! The first section of this road from Porto to Piana is one fantastic rock formation after another, gorgeous views and the most incredible road to negotiate. Around a bend we try to pass an oncoming car. Both cars come to a halt. I get out of our car and the passenger from the oncoming car. We guide our respective drivers past each other with mere millimetres to spare! Next comes a truck! I shut my eyes in horror but Colin is quite enjoying the experience. There are so many heavy vehicles today - big tourist buses stopping to allow their passengers to take photos, large trucks and winnebagos as well as the usual motor bikes and bicycles! It takes us 45 minutes to travel the 12 kilometres from Porto to Piana but it's 45 minutes I will never forget!!! We stayed at Radisson Blu Hotel Ajaccio Bay www.radissonblu.com Room 156 with a huge veranda overlooking the ocean. Amazing sea views.
