Port Macquarie, NSW

imageThe flight from Sydney to Port Macquarie follows the coast all the way. It's a very scenic flight, especially on a cloudless sunny afternoon and the window seat is worth having. Helen is at the airport to meet me. The start of a relaxing mother-daughter 'girls' weekend. Friday night is takeaway Thai and a couple of girlie movies. Saturday begins with brunch at 'Milkbar,' one of the local coffee shops - yummy scrambled eggs and coffee. A leisurely browse around some of the shops nearby and then off for our much-anticipated massage. Lying on the bed, covered with a warm towel, breathing in the delicate perfume of the oils......'How did that feel?' Goodness, someone spoke! I had almost fallen asleep. I opened my eyes. 'Fabulous,' I said. Back at the apartment, a sunny veranda, a comfy chair, a cup of tea, a magazine or two......and soon it was time for a delicious dinner at 'The Whalebone Wharf'.imageWe take our bottle of Moscato home with us to finish!! Sunday morning and Helen whips up brunch. Porridge followed by eggs, bacon, tomato, mushrooms, sour dough bread and good coffee. It is a beautiful day and we head to the beach for a walk. The tourist office recommends Town Beach to the Lighthouse and back. We even saw a whale out to sea! image We finish the day with a homemade stirfry followed by fresh raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, passionfruit and gourmet icecream - plus a glass of champagne ...or two!!
