The National Orchid Garden, Singapore
It's hot and humid but the Botanic Gardens in Singapore are worth a visit. It's at least an hour by train from the airport but the most time consuming part is finding where to buy our train ticket. Visitor passes can be bought only at Terminal 2 from an office which is tucked away in a little back corner with no signage!! My favourite section is the Orchid Garden which has a celebrity section in which some of the world's presidents, prime ministers and royals have an orchid named after them. There is a little cafe in the gardens which does the most amazing vegetable pizzas. unusual but delicious!
Crowne Plaza Hotel Changi We stayed here at the airport for our one night in Singapore. The hotel is a five minute easy well-signposted walk undercover from the terminal. We checked in to room 921. The rooms are off corridors which form the perimeter of rectangular outdoor courtyards. The corridors are covered though so it is possible to walk around without getting wet when it rains.
