We have a guest card which gives us free travel to Davos from our hotel in Filisur. It's only a 25 minute train ride. Switzerland has had its warmest November in forty years and what snow fell early in the season melted. The snow cover is not great but Fi decides she will ski there anyway. We all catch the train together.Because we don't get there till 11:30 she gets a half day lift ticket. She heads up the mountain in the cable car and we set off to explore Davos. There are quite a few skiers in the village and certainly snow at the top of the mountain. Walking around the village, it is the simple understated Christmas decorations that I like most. I am fascinated that the biggest selection of apres-ski footware is Ugg boots from Australia at around CHF250 to CHF350 a pair! We finish the day in Davos with apfelstrudel and icecream at Schneiders! Just delicious!!
