"Snow?" What was on the clifftops? They were etched with white all the way along. As we sailed closer to Santorini, we realised that the white was not snow but the houses and buildings of the capital, Fira! The cliffs are sheer and black and the volcanic layers are completely exposed. It is a most spectacular view. There are 587 steps from the port to the Fira at the top of the cliffs. We paid 5 euros each for the cable car!! We didn't stay in Fira. Others had told us about this gorgeous village of Ioa, 20 minutes on the local bus from Fira. We spent a relaxing couple of hours wandering around this very Greek town with its typical white houses and blue domed churches. If anyone can work out the Gelaterias wifi password, let me know!! The gelatos were delicious!!
