Mykonos

IMG_1915It is a perfect day to sail into Chora, the capital of Mykonos. Blue sky, scattered clouds and a very pleasant 23 degrees. Just like the postcards, the houses are white with blue shutters and doors - (just a few have red or brown). From the ferry port, we walk south around the harbour. It's pretty quiet today, not too many boats on the water. We walk past the whitewashed church on the southern tip of the harbour and around the headland to the next beach. This area is called Little Venice and it's not hard to see why. The houses are built right down to the water! The water is so clear that it is really easy to see the fish swimming around! Just a short walk from Little Venice are the islands famous five thatch-roofed windmills set up on a slight hill. The streets are a higgledy-piggledy maze of tiny lanes, designed to confuse medieval pirates. We just wander - blue doors, red doors, bright bougainvillea and many souvenir shops. Eventually it's time to go back to the boat. I spotted a Gelateria earlier and this tome I make a beeline for it. Choc-Peppermint and the dark chocolate are just delicious!IMG_1918IMG_1962IMG_1919IMG_1923
