Singapore to Athens via Helsinki

The Finnair flight from Singapore to Helsinki is an overnight flight but they haven't rolled out their new planes yet. They will have A350's but not till later in the year. The A340 that we are on doesn't have completely flat beds but at least we can lie down. We both decline midnight dinner and start off with a few hours sleep. I have an entree before breakfast a few hours later - chocolate Haagen-Diaz ice-cream! The food isn't as nice as usual although there is still plenty of Fazer chocolate!! We head to the lounge in Helsinki for a proper breakfast - even porridge! Helsinki airport is being up graded and we watch the filming of a promo for the new airport while walking around the shops. I'm really sorry that Stockmans department store has closed but the Lapland shop is still there and I already have a shopping list ready for the trip home! Lunch at the lounge and then our flight to Athens. It's cloudy most of the way but clears up as we head over Greece. Our taxi driver Dimitros is waiting for us in arrivals. It's 32 degrees in Athens and it's going to get hotter!!! The new airport at Athens is about half an hour's drive from the city centre but the traffic isn't too bad. We stayed at the Amalia Hotel Athens Room 404

Never get so busy travelling

that you forget to have an icecream on the way
