Empire Pass Circuit, Lawson. Blue Mountains.
We can hear the sound of water running as we descend the stairs from Dantes Glen picnic area. At the bottom we walk along the creek enjoying the coolness beneath the gums and ferns. There are no other sounds apart from water splashing, not even a bird call. The walk is an easy one although a little muddy in patches. This is good though, as it means the waterfalls are flowing. We arrive at Frederica Falls and we see a couple of boys splashing around in the water. A little further on, we rock hop across the creek to follow the path up and along to Dantes Falls. We cross the waterfall where it has plateaued. A family with three children also admiring the falls. As we head back to the picnic area, the sound of water disappears. We are moving away from the creek and back up the cliff. I've looked everywhere today for tadpoles but didn't see any. Maybe it's a little early for them to have hatched.
